Carol Lee Smith, 76, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 3:55 p.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at her home.
She was born September 23, 1942 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She married Robert F. Smith on July 8, 1961 in East St. Louis and he survives.
She was a dedicated and faithful homemaker whom cherished her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and enjoyed her days visiting the Botanical Gardens in St. Louis or bicycle rides with her husband. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by three children, Cynthia Ogden of Florissant, Missouri, Gary (Linda) Smith of Granite City and Rhonda (Kirk) Mills of Edwardsville; eight grandchildren, Jacquelynne Williams, Jacob Williams, Alexia (Austin) Gregory, Tessa (Jake) Weidner, Nathaniel Smith, Alec Mills, Andrew Mills and Allison Mills; a great granddaughter, Naomi Kemper; two sisters-in-law, Margie Herderhorst and Norma Mardirosian; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Eileen (Wood) Adele; three brothers, Gus, Edward and Donald Herderhorst and a sister, Janet Goss.
In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m. with her nephew, Deacon Rob Mardirosian officiating.
