Larry Roy Dawes, 63, of Granite City, IL, died unexpectedly at 9:57 a.m. Sat. Dec. 1, 2018 at Gateway Regional Medical Center ER in Granite City.
He was born Nov. 22, 1955 in Granite City to Irene (Lindsay) Dawes of Granite City and the late Emerald Dawes.
On Dec. 11, 2009, he and Angelina B. Betito were married in Edwardsville, IL. She survives in Granite City.
Larry retired in 2015 after 40 years of service as an operator from the City of Granite City sewer treatment plant. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and had attended Calvary Life Church. He was a member of the Midwest Airwing RC Club where he enjoyed flying drones. He enjoyed photography, playing golf and the guitar as well as teaching English as a second language online.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a granddaughter: Adriana Nichole Dawes of Troy, IL; and 2 sisters: Ruth Lee of Pleasant Grove, UT and Brenda Vierling of Clarksville, TN.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Cassandra Marie Dawes; and a brother: Robert Eugene Dawes.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of services at 6:00 p.m. Fri. Dec. 7, 2018 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Mark Maynard officiating. Private burial will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL.
