Mr. Taniel A. Garabedian, 83 of Collinsville, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, Missouri.
Taniel was born on May 10, 1935 in Beirut, Lebanon; the son of the late Apkar and Khatoun Garabedian.
Taniel earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at American University in Beirut, Lebanon and later went on to teach geometry, trigonometry, calculus and algebra in Beirut. He later attended Kansas State University where he earned a Masters Degree in Chemistry.
Taniel was a research chemist for 32 years at Monsanto and was an Adjunct Professor at Webster University. He attended St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church in Granite City and in his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family. Taniel will be remembered for his kind heart and all the special times he shared with his family and friends.
Taniel is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Rita (Coyle) Garabedian, whom he married on June 15, 1963; son, Dan Garabedian of Wildwood, Missouri; daughter, Laura Huff of Belleville, Illinois; grandchildren, Christian Garabedian, Ellen Garabedian, Garret Green, Elliot Huff and numerous nieces, nephews and many other close family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Taniel was preceded in death by his brothers, Garabed, Hagop, Francouis; sister, Nevart.
In celebration of Taniel’s life, friends may call on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Torkom Chorbajian officiating at St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church, 1014 W. Pontoon Road in Granite City.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
Memorial donations are suggested to St. Gregory Armenian Church.
