Margaret Ruth “Margie” Brooksher, 70, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 1:26 a.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at her home.
She was born July 19, 1954, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Albert and Helen Ruth (Drennan) Carpenter.
She married Robert E. “Bob” Brooksher Jr. on September 1, 1972, at the First Baptist Church in Granite City and he passed away on August 21, 2007.
Margie enjoyed her days of cooking and sewing and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Leah Brooksher Jr. of Granite City; six grandchildren, Tori and Austin Padgett, Isabella Brooksher, Robert James “R.J.” Brooksher, Kurte Winkle, Kaylee Burgess and Samantha Gihring; nieces and nephews, Cheryl Resch, Edward “Butch” and Vicki Woods, Robin Smith, Stephanie and Jason Hugo; great nieces and great nephews, Walter Hugo, Vivian Hugo, Matthew Michels, Jennifer McCormick and Mikaela Smith; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elaine and Mark Hadley; brother-in-law, William Brooksher; best friends, Cynthia and Steve Dew, Melissa and Jim Martin, Michael Noble and Samantha Burgess; many great-great nieces and great-great nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Woods and a great nephew, Christopher Woods.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, with Pastor Melissa Watkins officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
