Lois (Elkins) DePoty, 81, of Granite City, Illinois passed away in Granite City at 6:14 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 with her sister by her side. She was born May 20, 1943, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Troy W. and Evelyn “Laura” (Clutts) Elkins. She married Henry “Hank” DePoty on September 3, 1980, in New York and he passed away on September 25, 2020. Lois had worked in housekeeping at the Oak Orchard Manor in Madine, New York. She cherished the special times shared with her family and her dog, Midnight. She enjoyed her days of playing cards, bingo and traveling. She is survived by her sister, Terry Polach; granddaughters, Chelsea and Gabby; great grandchildren, Crimson, Addison, Arya and Nolan; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Duncan; brothers, Daryl Elkins, George Elkins and Gary Elkins; a sister, Violet “June” Richmond; nephews, Thomas “Tommy” Richmond and Frank “Frankie” Polach Jr. and a niece, Lori Richmond.
In celebration of her life and in accordance to her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until time of a memorial service at 12:00 noon with Reverend Sharon Autenrieth officiating.
