Brenda Marie Rains, 83, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 2:48 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born January 26, 1942, in Granite City, Illinois, the daughter of the late Brenton Hutson and the late Rose Marie (Vollmer) Keller.
She married the love of her life, Steven E. “Steve” Rains on May 1, 1975, in Granite City and he passed away on October 22, 2022.
Brenda retired in 2011 from The Medicine Shoppe in Granite City after 20 years of dedicated service as a pharmacy technician. She loved music and enjoyed her days of baking cookies, reading, playing games with her family and a good game of scrabble. She cherished her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be remembered for her quick wit, quirky sense of humor and for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She endured many health issues in her life and fought them with grace.
She is survived by and will be dearly missed by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cindi and Tony Faulkner of Granite City, Tami Finch of Granite City and Kari and Rich Takmajian of Granite City; five grandchildren and their spouses, Rose Weeks, Rob and Renee Finch, Jamie and Doug Horton, Katie and Nathan Elliott and Brant and Emma Takmajian; seven great grandchildren, Ciara, Hailey, Maddie, Emily, Chloe, Taylor and Ben; a brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Jaclyn Harper of Granite City; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and William Yates of Greenfield, Indiana; nephews, Nathan Harper of Granite City and Bryan and Traci Yates of Bay City, Michigan; other nieces and nephews; cousins; extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband of over 47 years and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Hutson and Brent Hutson.
In celebration of her life, a gathering will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
