Eichert’s Goal At The Death Gives O’Fallon 1-0 Girls Soccer Win Over Edwardsville, Panthers Remain Undefeated

EDWARDSVILLE – Kendley Eichert scored in the 80th minute – virtually at the death – to give defending IHSA Class 3A state champion O’Fallon an important 1-0 over Edwardsville in a key Southwestern Conference match Thursday night at Tiger Stadium.

The win keeps the Panthers unbeaten on the season at 6-0-1, while the Tigers slip to 3-2-1. More importantly, it gives O’Fallon a leg up on Edwardsville in the Southwestern Conference race, as the Panthers are now 4-0, while the Tigers fall to 3-1.

Eichert’s goal came with an assist by Ava Dannenbrink in the dying seconds to give the Panthers the three points. Brynn Ori had seven saves in goal to record the clean sheet for the Panthers.

Edwardsville goes on the road for three of the next four games, playing at Alton Tuesday at 6 p.m., then hosts Belleville West next Thursday at 6:45 p.m., then plays at Belleville East Apr. 21 at 6;45 p.m., and are at Granite City Apr. 23 at 6 p.m.

O’Fallon plays at home against Collinsville Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., and is at Belleville East next Thursday at 6:45 p.m. The Panthers return home Apr. 18 against Cor Jesu Catholic Academy of Affton, Mo., in a 12 noon kickoff, and host Father McGivney Catholic Apr. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
