MARYVILLE – Anderson Hospital has remained an independent health system since 1977, allowing it to build strategic partnerships that support its mission and expand access to care for the communities it serves. One of those longstanding relationships has been with Mercy’s cancer services team, whose physicians have cared for many Anderson patients over the years within the Warren Billhartz Cancer Center.
Following Mercy’s decision to transition its oncology services back to Missouri in August, Anderson Healthcare worked carefully to identify the best path forward for local cancer care. Through a thoughtful selection process, we chose to partner with Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois (CCSI), one of the state’s largest oncology practices, to enhance and expand cancer care services for our community.
CCSI currently provides medical oncology, hematology and radiation oncology services through 22 locations across Central and Southern Illinois. The physician-led practice offers a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care, bringing together specialists, advanced treatment technologies and coordinated support services to meet patients’ individual needs.
This partnership will help ensure patients in the Warren Billhartz Cancer Center continue to have access to comprehensive cancer care close to home. In addition to clinical services, CCSI participates in research programs supported by the National Cancer Institute, giving eligible patients access to clinical trials and emerging treatment options that are often available only through larger academic medical centers.

Making this a seamless experience for our patients, CCSI will begin seeing patients August 3, 2026.
