Rosalind Ann Holden, of Shiloh, IL, born April 23rd, in Solihull, England, passed away Monday, August 17, 1926, in Shiloh, IL.
Above all, Roz was a devoted mum and nana who doted on her grandchildren. She was a devoted fan of the O’Fallon Band Program (especially the Marching Panthers), the O’Fallon Bombers and Waterloo Soccer. In the evenings, you could all but guarantee she could be found cozied up on her love seat, cat by her side, watching Law & Order or Judge Judy while texting someone how proud she was of her kids and grandkids.
Prior to her retirement during the COVID pandemic, she had a long career path. Being named after the Shakespeare character of As You Like It and also sharing a birthday with Shakespeare, it is no wonder one of her first jobs was as a receptionist at the Swan’s Nest in Stratford-Upon-Avon from there she moved up to working at the posh Savoy Hotel in London also holding jobs in Italy and the Channel Islands. In the 80’s, upon a move to the States, Rosalind went to nursing school and continued to work for over 40 years as a much loved and respected geriatric nurse. She was a long-time member of St. George’s Episcopal Church also working with their food pantry for many years. She loved going to any event that involved a grandchild, cats, traveling, reading, spending time with friends, going to her book club and playing Rummikub. And tho she would deny it, deep down she loved flamingos.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril Leslie and Ida Olive, nee Pegler, Hadgkiss; and a brother, David Paul Hadgkiss.
Surviving are her children, Chad (Heather) Holden and Keri (Brian) Hoffmann; six grandchildren, Elliott, Zoë, Greyson, Dawson, Austin, and Kaden; a brother, Nigel Clive (Moira) Hadgkiss; and dear nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Food Pantry at St. George’s Episcopal Church or the Belleville Area Humane Society. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
According to Rosalind’s wishes, cremation services were held.
A mass and memorial reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at St. George’s Episcopal Church.
Burial will be at St. George’s Episcopal Memorial Garden.
