James Terrance Mullane, 79, passed away November 4, 2026, surrounded by family at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Jim was born on July 10, 1947 to James F. and Mary Mullane in East Saint Louis, IL. He attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications in 1969. Jim spent his career in healthcare supply service and enjoyed retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Mullane.
Jim was a man who could fill a room and make everyone in it laugh. His grandchildren were playfully scared by the Old Prospector and spent many happy sleepovers watching silly movies and eating Ben and Jerry’s. He loved sports and was a lifelong fan of the Salukis. He owned many tiny white fluffy dogs with his wife Sheila, but his favorite was Murphy. Jim was often known to nod off in his favorite recliner in the middle of family gatherings and loved the holiday season. Jim was a regular at Tim and Joe’s in Belleville and easily grew a close group of friends.
Jim is survived by his loving family, including his brother, Daniel Mullane of Mascoutah, IL and three step-daughters, Julie (Andrew) Katz of Swansea, IL, Jana (Earl) Wohlrab of Maryville, IL, and Lisa Guldner of Belleville, IL; granddaughters, Amanda (Garrett) Fischer of Caseyville, IL, Kelsey (Jon) Hansen of O’Fallon, IL, Lindsey (Ross) Puent of Shiloh, IL, Alexandria (Nick Baldoni) Wohlrab of Austin, TX, Jorden (Derek) Sherman of Belleville, IL and Jessica Guldner of Belleville, IL; great-grandchildren, Sloane, Ainsley, Gage, Brylan, Jay, Ellery, Wes and Holden; nephew, Christopher Mullane and niece, Maria Brown.
He was a devoted husband, step-father, brother, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, family member and true friend to so many. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held later.
