Gary Wade

JERSEYVILLE-  Gary D. Wade, 70, died at 10:35 a.m., Tuesday, September 19, 2012 at home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer.He was born in Jerseyville on April 6, 1942, the only child born to the late Harry “Junior” and Lucille (Young) Wade.Gary graduated in 1960 from Jersey Community High School, and was employed his entire adult life with Tri County FS in Jerseyville retiring in 2007 as a spray applicator.  Even after his retirement, Gary continued to assist during the farming seasons whenever he was needed.He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge both in Jerseyville, and loved to travel with his wife Sue, especially to Branson, Mo., and to various casinos.  He enjoyed his trips to Fran & Marilyns on Thursdays, Barefoot on Sunday, and Lake Westside for his daily lunch.  Most of all he enjoyed his family, and especially his two beloved granddaughters.He married the former Sierra Sue McEvers on July 6, 1962 in Carlinville, and together they shared 46 years together before her death on Oct. 28, 2008.Surviving are three daughters & sons in law, Terri & Darin Howland, Sheryl & Don Simpson, and Debbie & Mike Bader all of Jerseyville; two granddaughters, Ashley Jones, and her companion, Travis Atteberry, and his son, Gaige of Jerseyville, and Kelsey Howland a student at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville; three step children, Chris Bader of Peoria, Lindsey Lee of Lampoc, Ca., and LaNae Arellano of St. Petersburg, Fl.; and three step great grandchildren.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with funeral services conducted at 10 a.m. Friday.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the Blessing Hospice of Greene County.
