Alton Girls Basketball Team Jumps To A 77-42 Win Over Jersey In The First Road Of The Alton Tip-Off

ALTON – Alton girls basketball team started the year off with a bang with a 77-42 win over Jersey in the Alton Tip-Off Tournament Tuesday night. . 

Alton freshman Jarius Powers led the way with 17 points and teammate Kiyoko Proctor had 14 points. Jersey was led by Tessa Crawford with 16 points and Carly Daniels with 16 points. 

Alton jumped out to a 28-10 first quarter lead. They pushed the lead to 47-24 going into halftime. In the third quarter they ran the lead to 68-31 and had a running clock for the fourth quarter. In the final quarter Jersey outscored Alton 11-9. 

Friday Alton will look to play Breese Mater Dei at 7:30 in the round robin tournament. Mater Dei beat Springfield Southeast 50-48 in the first game of the night.
