Several Fire Departments Respond To Large Fire Friday Afternoon

SAINT JACOB – A large fire broke out Friday afternoon at around 4 p.m. at 10093 Ellis Road in Saint Jacob.

Flames and smoke could be seen from miles away. Fire Departments from Madison and St Clair counties responded to the scene. The building that was on fire was a large metal building it appears the roof collapsed during the fire.

Troy and Highland Fire Departments had their aerial trucks spraying water on the fire.

Due to no hydrants located near the fire, firefighters had to shuttle water to the fire. Just some of the fire departments that were observed at the fire were Saint Jacob, St. Rose, Troy, Highland, Hollywood Heights, New Athens, Marine, and Prairie Du Pont.

Madison County Emergency Management responded with their rehab unit. Madison County Sheriff’s Department blocked traffic as firefighters worked the scene.

It is unknown what caused the fire and if there were any injuries.
