Alton Fire Department Responded To A Warehouse Fire Friday Night

ALTON – Alton Fire Department responded to a warehouse fire in the 800 block of Piasa Street Friday night. The call came into dispatch just after 11:00 p.m. of smoke and fire in the warehouse.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they encountered smoke and fire inside the building. East Alton Fire Department was requested to the scene for mutual aid. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly.

As firefighters were battling the fire a car went around the police cars blocking traffic and hitting a fire hose. Alton Police was able to get the subject stopped and he was arrested but at this point it is unknown what the driver was charged with.

It is unknown at this time how the fire started, and the Illinois State Fire Marshal was requested. No injuries were reported.
