Father McGivney 4X800 Team Places 2nd At State Finals

CHARLESTON – The 4×800 team from Father McGivney consisting of Kaitlyn Hatley, Jane Cummins, Alyssa Terhaar, and Elena Rybak was able to have a strong showing in Charleston and placed 2nd on Saturday.

In the prelims on Thursday, they ran a time of 9:54.67 to come into the finals seeded 5th but that did not stop the Griffins they were able to knock off 11 seconds to reach the podium with a 2nd place finish with a time of 9:43.90.

Winnebago led the field with a time of 9:28.95 followed by the Griffins behind them in third place DuQuoin and in fourth St. Joseph- Ogden.

” It was amazing because we were big underdogs coming into this and everyone on the team ran a great leg of the race. Elena Rybak said. “It was amazing to place so high here at state it’s so amazing, We are all friends and we train so hard so to place second is awesome.” Kaitlyn Hatley said.

Father McGivney’s High Jumper Mia Range finished 5th on the podium for the freshman. She finished with a jump of 1.60 meters in the finals. She came into the finals seeded 4th.
