Carol Freeman

Carol Lee Freeman, age 79 of Caseyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, surrounded by family. 

Carol was born on August 19, 1942, in Collinsville, IL to the late Harold and Jennie (nee Pigford) Bohnensteihl.  She married Donald E. Freeman on February 16, 1963.

Carol was a retired secretary from Collinsville High School.  She enjoyed sewing, painting, reading, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and NASCAR, and being curator of “Carol’s the Wild Kingdom.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters:  Norma Steinwagner and Mary Daily.

She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Freeman; three daughters: Kelly (Mark) Jefferson, Kim (Grant) Suhre, and Deborah (Ken) Barry; six grandchildren:  Joshua and Becca Jefferson, Rachel Suhre, Kari Fumerola, Luke Barry, and Katelin Krusz; one great-grandchild; two sisters:  Patricia Maedge and Caroline Littlefield; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9 – 11 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL.

A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Nail officiating.  Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.

Memorials are suggested to Vitas Hospice, St. John Community Care, or Height Community Church Building Fund and will be received at the funeral home.
