Human Remains Identified As Vernon Law Who Has Been Missing Since Last July

HARTFORD – On Thursday human remains were found at the old Chemetco Plant on route three in Hartford. On Monday the remains were identified as Vernon Law who has been missing since July of last year.

The coroner’s release said their findings did not show any signs of trauma that would indicate foul play and that the family had been notified.

Law walking southbound on Illinois Route 3 in Hartford Illinois, towards Interstate 270, in July, at approximately 3 p.m. After Law was reported missing search was conducted from Wood River down Route 3 to the area of the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site. Search and Rescue dogs along with several ATVs and a plane could be seen searching the area around the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site. Workers were doing aerial mapping of the old Chemetco Plant Thursday When the remains were found.

The coroner’s release said their findings did not show any signs of trauma that would indicate foul play and that the family had been notified.
