Traffic Crash Shuts Down Wood River Ave Friday Morning

WOOD RIVER – Wood River Fire Department responded to Wood River Ave at Anderson Ave for a vehicle that had rolled over and caught fire Friday morning.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they found a Rat Rod upside down and on fire. Firefighters quickly were able to extinguish the fire. The Rat Rod struck some powerlines and they fell on the road during the crash. Some houses appeared to have lost power.

The driver was found outside the vehicle. It appeared the driver had minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital by Alton Memorial Ambulance Service.

Wood River Ave will be closed from Park Ave to Harnett Ave for several hours.
