GRANITE CITY — Morgan Hayes, a standout student and athlete at Granite City High School, has demonstrated dedication both on the golf course and in the classroom. Over the past two years, Hayes has been an active member of the school’s golf team, as well as participating in Renaissance, Spirit, and Varsity Club organizations.
Hayes also earned an All Warrior Academic Award in recognition of her scholastic achievements.
She is a Stillwater Senior Living Female Athlete of the Month.
Hayes, the daughter of Jeff Hayes and Jamie Warren, has shown particular interest in chemistry and plans to pursue nursing at the University of Missouri. Despite her academic focus, she has maintained a strong commitment to golf, according to Granite City golf coach Ginger Harrison.
“She loves the sport,” Harrison said. “I think her chipping was her best attribute in golf. Anything within 100 [yards] seems to be her strong suit. I feel like her choices are pretty solid on the golf course, and she was a great team member.”
At present, Hayes does not intend to play golf in college; her coach noted her solid decision-making and skill set on the course as key strengths during her high school career.
