Gary Edwin Oestringer, age 84 of Highland, IL, died Saturday, November 29, 2025, at HSHS Saint Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.
He was born on Thursday, January 2, 1941, in Highland, IL, the son of Edwin J. and Cora C. (nee Storbeck) Oestringer.
He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. He was also a member of Woodmen of the World – Chapter 105; former member of Teamster 525.
Gary was born and raised in Highland; graduated Highland High School 1960. He worked for Basler Electric. After his accident in 1962, he worked at Schwend’s Radio and T.V.; then Highland Machine for 29 years. He retired in 1989. He loved animals; he always had a dog, cat, bird – some type of animal. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing Euchre every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Gary is survived by his True Friend, Bill Schwend and many cousins and second cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin J. Oestringer (died 05/26/1997) and Cora C. Oestringer, nee Storbeck (died 09/03/2010), many aunts and uncles and a cousin.
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
A Graveside Service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL, with Rev. William E. Kapp, Pastor, Evangelical United Church of Christ, officiating.
