Cambree York

Cambree Katherine York, age 14, of O’Fallon, IL, born on February 8, 2012, in Richmond Heights, MO, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

In Cambree’s 14 years of life, she vibrantly lived life to the fullest. She was a blessing who brought joy to everyone. The week prior to her falling ill she celebrated her 14th birthday and a 1st place win in the State of Illinois Junior High Cheerleading Championship with Carriel Junior High School. She also participated in Friday Night Live, a special event that raises money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. She made the winners circle at Cheersport National All-Star Cheerleading Competition with the Cheer St. Louis Arch Angels, and to top it off was named to GenNext, a program that recognizes the top athletes in the sport of cheerleading.

Cambree was an exceptional young lady who excelled academically and athletically. She was dedicated and hardworking in the classroom and on the mat. Cambree was a role model who positively influenced younger athletes. She was named an Illinois Middle School Scholar Athlete, and she was recently selected as the Carriel Junior High School Student of the Month. Cambree had a heart of gold, always wanting to do for others. She was compassionate, kind, loving and generous. She had a spunky and sassy side to her too. Her faith was very meaningful to her. She loved God and was an example to others. She loved church, youth group, Christian summer camp and Fellowship of Christian Athletes- all very important parts of her life.

Cherishing Cambree’s memory are her parents, Jeremy and Hollie York (nee Esrig) of O’Fallon, IL; her brother, Colin York; maternal grandparents, Deborah Esrig of Hoffman Estates, IL, Glen Esrig of Ensenada, Mexico; paternal grandparents, George and Jane York of Belleville, IL; one aunt, Heather (Jeffrey) Sharbaugh; two uncles, Timothy (Christina) York, Gregory (Jill) York; six cousins, Emily Sharbaugh, Matthew Sharbaugh, Henrietta York, Beatrice York, Teddy York, Maeve York; and many great-aunts and great-uncles.

Two Cheer Like Cambree Memorial Scholarships have been created so that cheerleaders in need can have the opportunities Cambree had and loved. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Christian Church; 775 N. Green Mount Rd., Shiloh, IL 62221.

Cambree’s Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Cornerstone Christian Church; 775 N. Green Mount Rd., Shiloh, IL 62221, with Pastor Josh Kinney officiating.
