BELLEVILLE – Carysse Turner works hard at everything she tries.
For her accomplishments, Carysse Turner is a Student of the Month for Althoff Catholic High School.
Turner, a senior, has been a member of the school’s drama club since she was a freshman. She loves working with her classmates to put on impressive productions. She has received a “Best Dancer” award as well as a general excellence award in theater.
Turner works to support others as a student ambassador, wherein she represents and advocates for her peers. She is also part of Mass Ministry, where she helps set up Mass and reads during the service.
She was recently named to the National Honor Society, which requires high grades and many hours of community service. Turner volunteers regularly with Gateway Pet Guardians and her family’s church. She cares deeply about animals.
In her free time, Turner enjoys drawing, reading, baking, watching movies, taking walks with her dog, writing, and listening to music. Her art has won many awards, with pieces featured at the Belleville Art on the Square Competition and the SWIC High School Competition.
She is excited for her future. Her teachers and loved ones will continue to cheer her on.
“I plan to go to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I am majoring in animal science on a pre-vet track,” she shared. “I have a love for animals and studying biology and anatomy, which is why I plan to be a veterinarian. However, I also have a passion for the arts — both fine and performance. I hope to continue blending both my interests in STEM and the arts because science and creativity shape who I am.”
Congratulations to Carysse for this recognition from Althoff Catholic High School!
