MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 11, BELLEVILLE ALTHOFF CATHOLIC 3: After spotting Althoff a 1-0 lead in the first, Marquette came back to score four runs in the second, one in the third, and three in both the fourth and fifth to take the Gateway Metro Conference win at Gordon Moore Park.

Lucy LaFiore had two hits and an RBI for the Explorers, while Bella Johnson struck out six while in the circle.

Marquette is now 6-8-1, while the Crusaders fall back to 2-11.

CALHOUN 10, PAYSON SEYMOUR 5: Calhoun scored single runs in the first and sixth innings, three runs in the second and fourth, and twice in the third to help give them the win over Seymour at home.

Layla Longnecker had three hits and three RBIs for the Warriors, while Riley Pohlman struck out nine in the circle. Kiera Sievers and Carly Pohlman added two hits apiece for Calhoun.

Calhoun is now 11-9, while the Indians slip to 4-16.

GREENVILLE 14, CARLINVILLE 0: Greenville scored twice in the first, three times in the second and the fifth, five times in the third, and once in the fourth to win over Carlinville at Loveless Park.

Lex Fenton had the only hit of the game for the Cavaliers, while Hallie Gibson struck out three while in the circle.

The Comets are now 20-4, while Carlinville slips to 7-15.

WATERLOO GIBAULT CATHOLIC 8, EAST ST. LOUIS 6 (8 INNINGS): East St. Louis scored four runs in the first and two in the second, while Gibault countered with single runs in the first, second, sixth, and seventh, and two runs in the fifth before scoring twice in the eighth to take the win at home.

Iyanna Hogan had a hit and RBI for the Flyers, while Khalya Walker went all the way in the circle, fanning 12.

The Hawks are now 7-9, while East Side goes to 1-15.

BELLEVILLE EAST 10, GRANITE CITY 0: East scored once in the first, three times in the second, four times in the third, and twice in the fourth in going on to win over Granite City at home.

Chloe Randolph and Peyton Shipley both had two hits each for the Warriors, while both Randolph and Isabella Briagas struck out one each while in the circle.

The Lancers are now 23-6, while Granite goes to 3-17.

TRIAD 7, HIGHLAND 1: Triad scored twice in the first and fifth, then hit Highland with three more in the sixth to take the win on the road.

Reagan Sexton had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs for the Knights, while Abby Harper went all the way in the circle, striking out 13.

Triad is now 16-9, while the Bulldogs go to 3-13.

MASCOUTAH 3, JERSEY 0: Mascoutah scored twice in the first and once in the third in taking the road win at Jersey.

Anna Kribs, Maleah Derrick, and Charlotte Beasley all had two hits apiece for the Panthers, while Paxton Weirich went all the way in the circle, striking out two.

The Indians are now 17-5, while Jersey falls to 13-8.

In the rest of the Monday fixtures, Nashville won over Breese Central 12-0, Effingham won over Breese Mater Dei Catholic 13-6, Sangamon Valley Tri-City won over White Hall North Greene 6-0, and Red Bud shut out Marissa-Coulterville 4-0. Four other games — Civic Memorial at Waterloo, Metro-East Lutheran at Alton, Collinsville at Dupo, and Staunton at Gillespie — were all rained out. Make-up dates are to be announced.

GIRLS SOCCER

ROXANA 1, JERSEY 0: Sophia Powell’s first-half strike was the difference as Roxana won over Jersey at Normal Lewis Field.

Sidney Ufert had eight saves in goal to record the clean sheet for the Shells, who are now 6-9-0, while the Panthers go to 4-14-0.

FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 9, METRO-EAST LUTHERAN 0: Erin Kretzer had a brace (two goals), while Harper Dettmers, Layla Tobin, Sofia Rossetto, Claire Wade, Natalie Beck, Claire Berger, and Emerson Isringhause also scored in McGivney’s win over Metro-East at McGivney Catholic.

Peyton Ellis and Addison Ronk shared the clean sheet for the Griffins, who are now 15-1-2, while the Knights are now 1-16-0.

In other matches played on Monday, Belleville Althoff Catholic won over Breese Mater Dei Catholic 7-0, Trenton Wesclin won over Centralia 3-0, and Freeburg shut out Waterloo Gibault Catholic 5-0.

FRIDAY GIRLS ROUNDUP

GIRLS LACROSSE

In a pair of matches played on Friday, Webster Groves, Mo., defeated Belleville West 10-3, while Edwardsville defeated Washington 10-9.

GIRLS SOCCER

CIVIC MEMORIAL 8, ALTON 1: Delaney Griffin and Abby Brueckner both had hat tricks, while Reagan Thomas and Sara Aiello scored in CM’s win over Alton at Hauser Field.

Bryleigh Marshall had four saves in goal for the Eagles, while Sage Cowan had the lone strike for Alton, who saw Lyla Cowan make 10 saves in the net.

CM is now 7-8-1, while Alton goes to 3-14-0.

In a pair of other matches played on Friday, in a tournament in Bettendorf, Ia., Belleville West blanked Lockport Township 3-0, and Trenton Wesclin won over Greenville 3-1.

SOFTBALL

BELLEVILLE EAST 3, TRIAD 1: East scored once in the first and twice in the fourth to hold over Triad.

Addison Hagerty had a hit and the only RBI for the Knights, while Abby Harper went all the way in the circle, striking out six.

The Lancers improve to 22-5, while Triad is now 15-8.

CARLINVILLE 9, VANDALIA 3: Carlinville scored twice in the second, fourth, and seventh, along with three times in the sixth, to win at Vandalia.

Hallie Gibson had a big day at the plate for the Cavaliers, getting four hits and three RBIs, while fanning 14 inside the circle.

Carlinville is now 7-13, while the Vandals are now 4-14.

GRANITE CITY 14, MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 12: Granite took a 7-0 lead with five in the first and two in the second, but Marquette rallied to score two in the third, three in the fourth, and four in the fifth to go in front 9-7. The Warriors fought back to score four in their half of the fifth, and both teams traded three runs each in the seventh to allow Granite to win at the Nelson Hagnauer Sports Complex.

Isabella Briagas had three hits and four RBIs for the Warriors, while Makayla Adams had two hits and four RBIs. Briagas also struck out three in the circle. Sofia Lamere had two hits for the Explorers, while both Bella Johnson and Kenna Lievers struck out two each in the circle.

WATERLOO 12, JERSEY 1: Waterloo scored twice in the first, six times in the second, three runs in the fourth, and once in the fifth to win over Jersey on the road.

Both Marley Cazier and Holly Brainerd had two hits each for the Panthers, while Jena Pegram struck out two inside the circle.

STAUNTON 3, PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 1: Staunton broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth with all three of its runs, and made them stand up in taking a close win at home over Southwestern.

Gabby Poole had two hits for the Piasa Birds, while Vivian Zurheide had a hit and an RBI. Hannah Mary went all the way inside the circle, fanning three.

In other games played on Friday, Mascoutah won over Highland 11-0, and Belleville Althoff Catholic defeated Maryville Christian 14-3.
