Theresa Westgate

Theresa “Trie” Lynn Westgate, nee Mullins, was born January 6, 1970, and passed away peacefully at home on May 6, 2026, in O’Fallon, Ill.

Although born in Wayne, Michigan, when she was young, Trie’s family moved across state to Paw Paw, where she graduated high school. She furthered her education, earning her teaching degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She met the love of her life while living in England, and she frequently joked about being Charlie’s “British” wife. Prior to moving to O’Fallon to be closer to family, they were married and lived in Annapolis, Maryland (still a favorite vacation spot and planned retirement location). Trie’s biggest pride came from being a devoted mother of six amazing children and a military spouse. She was an active member at the O’Fallon Y and a fitness enthusiast.

Survivors include her husband Charles “Charlie” J. Westgate III; beloved children McKenzie (Abdul) Basil, Mason Maxwell-Westgate, Andrew Maxwell, Abby Maxwell, Miles Maxwell, and Sean Maxwell; two grandchildren LaMiyah and Kai; father Thomas (Patty) Mullins; mother Judy (Michael) Toth; sisters Dawn (Mike) Davies, Peggy (Doug) Noble; and brother Michael (Tonya) Toth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Fisher House (https://www.fisherhouse.org/about/), which provides comfort homes where military and veteran families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital. Trie volunteered with them for several years, and it was always important for her to help others.

The family will host private services. Burial is being planned at Arlington National Cemetery. Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O’Fallon, Ill., www.wfh-ofallon.com, is serving the family.
