GRANITE CITY – Three members of the Granite City Police Department attended National Police Week in Washington last week, where they joined events honoring fallen officers, met House Speaker Mike Johnson at the U.S. Capitol, and escorted families during a memorial ceremony.
Sgt. Eric Stacy, Detective William Temple, and Officer Doug Nicoson took part in the week’s events as guests of Linsey and Chloe Timmins, according to the Granite City Police Department.
During the visit, the officers attended a vigil in honor of the fallen and visited the Capitol, where they met Johnson.
Linsey Timmins lost her husband, Pontoon Beach Police Officer Tyler N. Timmins, on Oct. 26, 2021, after a shooting at an area convenience store. Officer Timmins officially died in the line of duty. The department said Linsey and Tyler Timmins had recently married on Sept. 11, 2021.
Stacy and Nicoson also escorted families of fallen officers during the Memorial Ceremony on May 15, 2026. Stacy escorted the family of fallen Chicago Police Officer Krystal Rivera, and Nicoson escorted the family of fallen New York City Police Officer David P. Miller Jr.
The Granite City Police Department described the officers as grateful for the opportunity to take part in the week’s events and to honor those who died in the line of duty.
