
CASEYVILLE – Caseyville Police said four children ages 3 to 6 were found with visible injuries consistent with ongoing physical abuse after officers responded May 26, 2026, to a report at the Days Inn in Caseyville, and two women were later arrested and charged.
Officers were sent to the hotel at 2423 Old Country Inn Drive regarding “a report of possible child abuse involving multiple juvenile victims,” according to the Caseyville Police Department.
When officers arrived, they made contact with four children ages 3 to 6, police said. “Officers observed visible wounds and injuries on all four children consistent with ongoing physical abuse,” the release said.
Emergency medical personnel responded to evaluate the children. Caseyville Police said the juveniles were later placed into protective custody and are being treated for their injuries at local hospitals pending further investigation.
After a preliminary investigation, police identified two adult female suspects and took them into custody without incident, according to the release. Police identified the suspects as Samantha N. Benjamin, date of birth Oct. 14, 1994, and Katriel D. Larkin, date of birth June 30, 1994.
Both suspects were charged with four counts each of aggravated battery, a Class X felony, and four counts each of endangering the health or life of a minor, a Class A misdemeanor, police said.
The Caseyville Police Department said it also wanted to thank “the anonymous caller who contacted 911 and reported the incident.” According to the Caseyville Police, “Their willingness to come forward and provide information played a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the children involved.”
The investigation remains active, police said. The Caseyville Police Department said it is working with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
