One Man Dies: Crash Destroys Two Vehicles Tuesday, June 9, 2026

ST. LOUIS COUNTY – A 36-year-old Villa Ridge man was killed, and a 56-year-old High Ridge man was injured Tuesday afternoon, June 9, 2026, in a two-vehicle crash on southbound Missouri 109 south of Niehoff Drive in St. Louis County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The crash happened at 2:03 p.m. on June 9, 2026, and was investigated by Sgt. M.G. Autenrieth and MCIU No. 2 Sgt. J.D. Cox of Troop C, the report said.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling northbound on Missouri 109 when it crossed over the double yellow line into the southbound lane and into the path of a southbound 2022 Chevrolet Express. The driver of the Chevrolet traveled onto the southbound shoulder to avoid the Jetta, but the Jetta also traveled onto the southbound shoulder, and the front of the Jetta struck the front of the Chevrolet, the report said.

The driver of the Jetta, a 36-year-old man from Villa Ridge, was not using a safety device and suffered fatal injuries, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol report. He was pronounced at the scene at 2:19 p.m. Tuesday by Eureka Fire Protection District personnel and was transported by Lonning Mortuary Service to the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s office, the report said.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 56-year-old man from High Ridge, was using a safety device and suffered moderate injuries, according to the report. He was transported by the Eureka Fire Protection District to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

Both vehicles were listed as total losses and were towed by McNamaras Towing, the report said.

The patrol identified the location as southbound Missouri 109 south of Niehoff Drive in St. Louis County. The crash report was assigned incident No. 260240861.
