
Paul William Bauman, 76, of Belleville, IL, born January 2, 1950, in Belleville, IL, died Monday, June 22, 2026, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Paul served in the Navy from 1968-1972, worked for the Carpenters Union for 35 years and then went on to work as a building inspector for the City of Belleville. He enjoyed playing horseshoes with his brothers and friends. Paul was known for his kindness and dependability. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends, generously sharing his time and talents whenever a project needed completing or a repair needed attention.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Matilda, nee Netemeyer, Bauman; four sisters, Ruth Zimmerman, Louise Hepp, Phyllis Adams and Geraldine Bauman, in infancy; and two brothers, James Bauman and Marcel Bauman.
Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Jane E. Bauman, nee Poirot, whom he married on October 11, 1980; three sons, Paul (Kristin) Bauman, Luke Bauman, and Joseph (Mindy) Bauman; two daughters, Leah (Darren) Johnston and Carol (Chris) Dodson; 11 grandchildren, Katy Mayssonet, Gaby Mayssonet, Lilly Bauman, Emma Bauman,
Ava Bauman, Jack Bauman, Alex Bauman, Ian Bauman, Alyssa Dodson, Elijah Johnston, and Tucker Dodson; one sister, Paulette Bauman; two brothers, Gerald (Dorothy) Bauman and Louis (Nancy) Bauman; a sister-in-law, Toni Bauman; a brother-in-law, Ray Adams: and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL, with Bishop Godfrey Mullen, OSB officiating.
