Stormy Friday Gives Way to Hot, Humid Weekend

Friday morning starts wet and gray, with rain already falling around the region and temperatures near 69. Showers and thunderstorms will continue through the morning as clouds hold tight and humidity stays high. By afternoon, expect more rounds of rain and thunderstorms, including the chance for a few downpours that could cause localized flooding. The high reaches 77, with east-southeast winds around 8 mph and gusts near 10 mph. Rain chances stay near 100 percent through the day.

Friday evening still carries the risk of a thunderstorm before activity begins to ease later at night. Overnight stays cloudy and humid with the low settling near 68. Rain chances drop but do not disappear, with a lingering chance for a shower or storm into the night.

A Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday evening. Heavy rain could lead to flooding in low-lying spots and areas with poor drainage.

Friday’s allergy index is moderate for grass pollen. Mold, ragweed and tree pollen are low.

Saturday looks warm and humid with a high of 83 and a low of 72. A thunderstorm is possible, mainly with more clouds in the morning before a mix of clouds and some sun arrives in the afternoon. Rain chances sit around 55 percent.

Sunday turns noticeably hotter with a high of 93 and a low of 73. Partly sunny skies and humid air will push feels like temperatures as high as 103 during the afternoon. Rain chances are low at just 8 percent, and a south wind around 9 mph could gust up to 18 mph.
