Mary Margaret Parker, 83, of Boone, Iowa, and formerly of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 9:10 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on October 4, 1942, in Venice, Illinois, the daughter of the late Earl Jay and Dorothy (Brandes) Hogan. Mary married the love of her life, David F. Parker, on June 10, 1961, in Venice, Illinois. Together they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on August 11, 2005.
Mary was a kind, hardworking woman who enjoyed serving others during her years working in the cafeteria at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family was the center of her life. She treasured every moment spent with those she loved and found her greatest happiness in watching her family grow through the generations. Whether sharing a meal, celebrating holidays, or simply enjoying time together, she created countless cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her family. She will be remembered for her loving heart, gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to her family, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Earon of Hillsboro, Illinois, and Connie (Dan Meyer) Parker of Boone, Iowa; four grandchildren, Brandy (Jesse Bridges) Knott, Rodney Knott, Amanda (Nick) Korf, and Garrett (Kelsey Stickler) Perdue; six great-grandchildren, Heidi Knott, Hailee Knott, Haiden Knott, Savannah Bridges, Parker Jay Bridges, and Cameron Korf; a brother, Carl (Teresa) Hogan of Waterloo, Illinois; three sisters, Grace (Frank) Parker of Granite City, Illinois, Earline (Kenny) Schienschang of Smithboro, Illinois, and Anna (Danny) Raper of Greenville, Illinois; many nieces and nephews; other extended family members; and many dear friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Jay Hogan, and five brothers, Tony Hogan, Barney Hogan, Earl Hogan, Joe Hogan, and Michael R. Hogan.
In celebration of her life, a graveside service will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, with Father Steve Thompson officiating.
