Albert Czerniejewski

Albert Casimir Czerniejewski, 83, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.

Born on December 5, 1942, in Ashley, Illinois, Albert was the beloved son of the late Thomas and Mary (Dreas) Czerniejewski. Throughout his life, he exemplified the values of faith, hard work, kindness, and devotion to family, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Albert served his country honorably with dedication and patriotism. On September 24, 1966, he married the love of his life, Maxine Rynski, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, Illinois. Together they shared sixty wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, faith, and family.

Albert was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City and dedicated more than 42½ years of service to General Motors, where he worked in the paint and parts department before his retirement. His strong work ethic, dependability, and humble spirit earned the respect and admiration of his coworkers throughout his career.

Life was meant to be enjoyed, and Albert embraced it wholeheartedly. He loved dancing and was an active member of the St. Louis Metro Polka Club. He was also a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. Yet, above all else, Albert treasured the time he spent with his family. Whether attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, school activities, or celebrations, he found immense joy in supporting each of them. His warm smile, generous heart, and genuine interest in others meant he never met a stranger. Always ready with a helping hand or a kind word, Albert touched countless lives through simple acts of kindness and unwavering compassion.

In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his siblings, Walter (Dorothy) Czerniejewski, Florence (Ray) Lamczyk, Lucille (Bill) Nadolski, and Daniel Czerniejewski.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Maxine Czerniejewski of Granite City, Illinois; his loving children, Greg (Christine) Czerniejewski of Durham, North Carolina, Stacy (Ron) Morales of St. Jacob, Illinois, and Eric (Melanie) Czerniejewski of Miramar, Florida; his cherished grandchildren, Blake, Rachel, Amanda, Stephen, Timothy, Sebastian, Kathryn, Basil, Cole, India, and Kenleigh; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by his friendship.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Irwin Chapel in Granite City, Illinois.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Albert’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City, with Father Alfred Tumwesigye officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. at St. Michael Cemetery in Radom, Illinois.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Elizabeth Church Capital Campaign, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or masses. Contributions will be accepted at the funeral chapel or the church.
