FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS — Revity Credit Union said it raised $44,984 for the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight through its 10th Annual Tee Up Fore Veterans Golf Tournament at Stonewolf Golf Club in Fairview Heights, helping fund trips for veterans to visit memorials in Washington.
The event, held in Fairview Heights, brought together local businesses, golfers, volunteers and supporters to benefit the nonprofit, which transports veterans to Washington, D.C., to see memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifices. Revity said it contributed $20,000 to cover tournament expenses, allowing money raised through sponsorships, raffles and team participation to go directly to the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight. Community support generated an additional $24,984.
Over the past decade, the tournament has grown into what Revity described as a community tradition centered on honoring veterans.
This year’s event also featured Robert Schultz, a 104-year-old Private First Class Sea-Going Marine who served aboard the USS California (BB-44). Revity said his attendance offered attendees a reminder of the sacrifices made by generations of veterans.
“We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from our community,” said John Merritt, president and CEO of Revity Credit Union. “For 10 years, this event has allowed us to give back to the veterans who have given so much for our country. We’re proud to support the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight and the life-changing experiences they provide to our nation’s heroes.”
Revity said its support for veterans extends beyond fundraising. In April, two Revity volunteers served as Guardians on the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight’s 114th Mission, assisting veterans during their trip to Washington.
The Greater St. Louis Honor Flight is a nonprofit organization that honors veterans by transporting them to Washington to visit memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifices. According to Revity, the money raised through the tournament will help cover the costs of those trips.
