Hot, Mostly Sunny Weather Pushes Heat Index to 103 Thursday

Thursday starts warm and already a bit sticky, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 70s early. It will feel like the low 80s during the morning, but the day is off to a quiet start with a light east wind.

By afternoon, the heat takes over. Highs climb to about 98, with plenty of sunshine and just a 1% chance of rain. A southwest wind around 8 mph may gust to about 14 mph. It will feel like 103 at the hottest part of the day, so plan for a very hot stretch if you will be outside for long.

Overnight, the low settles near 73 under clear skies. Humidity stays up, so it may still feel a little warmer than the air temperature at times before daybreak.

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday.

The allergy index is high for ragweed and moderate for grass.

Friday looks much the same, with a high near 98 and a low around 73. Expect another mostly sunny, very hot day, with ragweed staying a problem for allergy sufferers.
