ST. LOUIS — A 16-year-old boy was critically injured Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood after armed masked suspects reportedly fired shots in his direction, striking him in the arm and chest, authorities said.
District 4 is investigating the shooting, which happened Sept. 15 in the 2800 block of Vandeventer. A preliminary investigation found the teen was in the area when he saw armed, masked suspects walking around, authorities said.
The suspects reportedly fired at the boy. A 21-year-old man who was with the teen reported firing shots back at the suspects during the incident.
The suspects fled after the shooting. EMS transported the 16-year-old to a hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
