EDWARDSVILLE – Edwardsville turned a pack of top finishes into a decisive team victory in the high school girls’ 5,000-meter race, placing five runners among the top eight individual finishers and winning the official team standings with 23 points at the SIUE course on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026.
St. Charles West senior Brianna Krueger won the individual race in 18:47, a season-best time. Edwardsville sophomore MacKenna Kerpan followed in 19:11.50, and Edwardsville junior Morgan Popelar was third in 19:38.30.
St. Joseph’s Academy sophomore Emily Strohschein placed fourth in 19:56.80 with a personal-best time. Edwardsville senior Ella Thompson was fifth in 20:03.80, a season best.
Belleville East freshman Johanna Hartin finished sixth in 20:12.90 with a personal best. Edwardsville freshman Audrey Floyd was seventh in 20:17.10 with a personal best, and Edwardsville freshman Heidi Stahlheber took eighth in 20:22.60, also a personal best.
New Athens junior Brooke Deterding placed ninth in 20:26.50 with a personal best. St. Joseph’s Academy junior Audrey Jackson was 10th in 20:28.90, a season best. Mascoutah junior Milla Cryder finished 11th in 20:36.10, a season best, and Edwardsville junior Willow Jackson finished 12th in 20:38.80.
Mascoutah finished second in the team standings with 71 points, followed by St. Joseph’s Academy with 82 and Parkway West with 97. St. Charles West was fifth with 138, East St. Louis sixth with 188, Gillespie seventh with 211, Springfield Southeast eighth with 215, and Collinsville ninth with 220.
