Theodore Williams “Ted” Macios, 90, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. He was born January 18, 1934, in Granite City, a son of the late Stanley W. and Bertha (Calvin) Macios. He married the love of his life, Norma J. (Knobeloch) on February 2, 1943, in Madison, Illinois and she survives. Ted was proud to be a 1957 graduate from the Rolla School of Mines and later retired in 1989 from Boeing in St. Louis after 27 years of dedicated service as a mechanical engineer with McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft. He was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Granite City where he was active with the Seafarers Ministry and was also a member of the Masonic Triple Lodge in Granite City. Ted was a sports enthusiast, always enjoyed watching all sports, but had a special love of golf and enjoyed playing with the league and his family. He also enjoyed his days of fishing and passing on his love to his children and grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife of 67 years, he is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and Stan Cleveland of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Donna Hawkins of Maryville and Karen and Steve Tierney of Riverview, Florida; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Carol Macios of Granite City; fourteen grandchildren, Kristen, Nathan, Kyle, Tyler, Leanne, Samantha, Rachel, Sean, Nicole, Michelle, Kji, Cari, Kimi and Brian; thirteen great-grandchildren, Hazel, Landon, McKenzie, Max, Aubree, Beau, Gwen, Grace, Eliana, Cole, Hudson, Natalia and Hayes; nieces; nephews; other extended family and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Carl and JoAnn Macios.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at the First Presbyterian Church, 2160 Delmar Avenue in Granite City on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 12:00 noon with Reverend Jennifer Warren-Hauser officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. In lieu of floral tributes, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Salvation Army and may be accepted at the service.
