James Edward O’Hara, age 81 of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
He was born on August 9, 1941, in Edwardsville, IL to the late Edward and Alice (nee Kelly) O’Hara. He was a Navy Veteran, a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, and a 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus. He loved NASCAR and enjoyed going to the St. Louis Cardinals Spring training in Florida with his wife, Linda. He retired from S M & P Conduit Company as an underground utility locator and was known to many as “Jammer”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas O’Hara.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (nee Stone) O’Hara, whom he married March 23, 1993; a daughter, Jenni (Robert Hunt) Ledbetter of Collinsville, IL; a granddaughter, Kristen Kelleher; three sisters: Lorraine Patek of Collinsville, IL, Helen (Jim) Herron of KS and Mary Ellen Goodwill of CA; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.
A funeral service will follow at noon with Father John Beveridge officiating.
The burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Collinsville.
