Beverly Ann Wiggs, age 81, of Mascoutah, IL, born on September 25, 1942, in Bulpitt, IL, died on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at her residence.
Beverly was an avid mystery reader – she loved books. In recent years, she was studying the bible daily. She had completed reading the bible in a year and would always say she would pray for you. She loved the Nintendo video games Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing so much she wore out her console and her grandchildren had to get her a new setup. TV and movies were staples for Beverly, and she liked all kinds, from game shows and The Amazing Race to Bones and Project Runway. Her favorite movies were Christmas movies (It’s a Wonderful Life, Home Alone and The Santa Clause) and were for year-round watching. But ultimately, Beverly valued her family above everything. She stayed in touch with the family on the phone, was happy to get photos on her electronic picture frame, and tuned in to watch her son preach on YouTube. If you spoke to her for more than a minute, she would tell you about her 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She connected with all of them, she was a Great Maw Maw.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse “Larry” and Edith, nee Griffiths Smothers; her brother, Richard Smothers; and her former husband, Bill L. Wiggs, Sr.
Beverly is survived by her children, Regina F. (Lee) Peterson of Mascoutah, IL, Neth G. Wiggs of Republic, MO, Kevin D. (Janette) Wiggs of Belleville, IL, and Bill L. (Becky) Wiggs, Jr., of Marshall, IL and their two sisters, Dawn (Keith) Endrijaitis and Stacey Heath; her 10 grandchildren, Brittany (Andrew) Peterson-Marx, Zach Peterson, Christopher (Laura) Wiggs, Kaytlyn (Ryan) Morris, Kenny Wiggs, Afton (Ryan) Spriggs, Aubrey (Kirk) Dulin, Cameron (Jaclyn) Wiggs, Sarah (Mike) Shultz, and Joshua Wiggs; 14 great grandchildren; her brother, Gary (Gigi) Smothers of Taylorville, IL, and her sister, Faye (Dan) Hay of Chatham, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Pregnancy Care Center in Belleville, IL or to Safe Families For Children – Metro East.
