BASEBALL

CARROLLTON 8, GREENFIELD NORTHWESTERN 1: Carrollton scored once in the first, fifth, and seventh innings, along with two in the third and three in the fourth, to take the road win over Greenfield.

Charlie Stumpf led the Hawks with three hits and three RBIs, while Jayce Steinkuhler had two hits and two RBIs. Stumpf also struck out four while on the mound.

Carrollton is now 8-5, while the Tigers go to 7-10.

COLUMBIA 10, MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 0: Columbia scored four runs in the first inning, five more in the third, and a single run in the sixth to take the win over Marquette at Lloyd Hopkins Field at Gordon Moore Park.

Keller Jacobs, Ethan Dempsey, and Logan Sherman had the hits for the Explorers, while Jacobs fanned two on the mound.

The Eagles are now 5-9, while Marquette falls to 6-8.

HIGHLAND 4, JERSEY 2: Highland went ahead in the first 2-1 over visiting Jersey, and after the Panthers tied the game with a run in the second, the Bulldogs scored twice more in the bottom of the third, and made the runs stand up in taking the win at Glik Park.

Jude Jones had a hit and an RBI for Jersey, while Abe Kribs had the only other hit, and Bryce Hutchens had the only other RBI. Brady Maxeiner went all the way on the mound, striking out three.

Highland is now 6-12, while the Panthers go to 10-5.

COLLINSVILLE 14, GRANITE CITY 0: Collinsville scored three times in the first, five times in the fourth, and six in the fifth to take the win over Granite City at Babe Champion Field.

Carson Parill had three hits and an RBI for the Kahoks, while Roman Pomerantz came up with a hit and four RBIs. Will Swip struck out six in a complete game on the mound. Tuff Bradley, Andrew Willaredt, and Clark Goodman had the hits for the Warriors, while Michael Terry fanned two on the mound.

Collinsville is now 6-9, while Granite goes to 7-8.

TRIAD 3, CIVIC MEMORIAL 0: Triad pushed across two runs in the second, and an insurance run in the sixth to take the win over CM at the Bethalto Sports Complex.

Auggie Bugger led the Knights with two hits and an RBI, while Nolan Keller went all the way on the mound, fanning 14. Dame Godar, Luke Clouser, Jacob Flowers, and Brock Rust came up with the hits for the Eagles, while Chase Butler struck out six.

Triad is now 13-2, while CM drips to 11-7.

ALTON 20, EAST ST. LOUIS 4: Alton scored three runs in the first, 10 more in the second, and seven in the third in picking up the Southwestern Conference win over East St. Louis at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center.

Parker Cannon had two hits and three RBIs for the Redbirds, while Logan Hickman had two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs, and Anderson Kaufmann also had two hits and two RBIs. Fletcher Groppel went all the way on the mound, striking out six. MonTel Harper and Jaylen Jones had the hits for the Flyers, while Jamon Company, Jr., and Miller had the RBIs. Jones also struck out two while on the mound.

Alton is now 8-0, while East Side goes to 3-5.

In other games played on Monday, Breese Mater Dei Catholic defeated Belleville Althoff Catholic 8-2, CBC of St. Louis defeated Belleville West 6-1, Centralia won over Belleville East 4-3, Mascoutah edged Waterloo 2-1, and Waterloo Gibault Catholic got past Trenton Wesclin 6-4.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

In the matches that were played on Monday evening, Granite City squeezed past Bunker Hill 25-23, 25-22, Belleville West defeated Freeburg 25-13, 25-27, 25-9, Belleville Althoff Catholic won a Missouri best-of-five sets match at Whitfield in west St. Louis County 20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-14, and O’Fallon swept Eureka, Mo. 25-17, 25-7.

GIRLS SOCCER

TRIAD 3, COLUMBIA 0: Erica Boyce, Izzy Hancock, and London Looby had the goals as Triad went to Columbia and took home all three points.

Payton Hartmann made four saves in goal to record the clean sheet for the Knights, who now go to 6-3-2, while the Eagles are now 6-6-1.

In other matches on Monday, Trenton Wesclin won over East Alton-Wood River 8-0, Belleville West won over Breese Mater Dei Catholic 5-0, in the Waterloo Derby, Waterloo won over Waterloo Gibault Catholic 6-0, in another derby match, Belleville East won over Belleville Althoff Catholic or the first time in nine years 1-0, Father McGivney Catholic and O’Fallon battled to a 0-0 draw, and Francis Howell won at Granite City 5-0.

SOFTBALL

CENTRALIA CHRIST OUR ROCK LUTHERAN 21, EAST ST. LOUIS 1: COR scored four runs in the first, two in the second, seven in the fourth, and eight in the fifth to win over East St. Louis at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center.

Oleah Brown and Asia Jackson had the only hits of the game for the Flyers, while Khayla Watson struck out three in the circle.

The Silver Stallions are now 5-4, while East Side is 0-12.

FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 25, CAHOKIA 13: McGivney scored in every inning, pushing across seven runs in the first, two in the second, three in the third, four in both the fourth and sixth, and five in the fifth to take the win at Cahokia.

Eve Stanhaus had two hits and three RBIs for the Griffins, while also striking out two while in the circle.

McGivney is now 5-8, while the Comanches slip to 0-11.

CARROLLTON 9, GREENFIELD NORTHWESTERN 2: Carrollton scored single runs in the second and fourth innings, then broke open the game with seven runs in the sixth to take the win at Greenfield.

Kadyn Lake had three hits and two RBIs for the Hawks, while Brookelynn Eilerman had two hits and three RBIs. Eilerman also went all the way in the circle, fanning nine.

Carrollton is now 14-6-1, while the Tigers go to 7-11.

TRIAD 3, JERSEY 2: Jersey scored twice in the home half of the first, but Triad had single runs in the first, second, and fifth to take the Mississippi Valley Conference win on the road.

Both Addison Hagerty and Kenzie Becker had a hit and RBI each for the Knights, while Abby Harper went all the way in the circle, striking out nine. Anna Kribs had a hit and RBI for the Panthers, while Paxton Weirich also threw a complete game in the circle, striking out 10.

Triad is now 14-7, while Jersey goes to 11-3.

GRANITE CITY 17, MARYVILLE CHRISTIAN 11: Granite City scored twice in the third, once in the fourth to tie the game 3-3, three more in the fifth to retie the game 7-7, and after Maryville scored three times to take the lead back, exploded for 11 run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 17-9 lead. A two-run Lions’ seventh wasn’t enough, as the Warriors won only their second game of the season.

Chloe Randolph led Granite with five hits and three RBIs, while Makayla Adams added three hits and two RBIs. Isabella Briagas struck out six while on the mound.

The Warriors are now 2-14, while Maryville goes to 2-5.

CONCORD TRIOPIA 13, CALHOUN 3: Triopia scored three runs in the first, four in the second and fourth, and two in the sixth to take the WIVC league win over visiting Calhoun.

Both Layna Longnecker and Kiera Sievers had two hits each for the Warriors, while Riley Pohlman struck out four in the circle.

The Trojans are now 15-0, while Calhoun goes to 6-8.

In other games played on Monday, Belleville East defeated Columbia 9-2, Gillespie nipped Breese Mater Dei Catholic 2-0, Okawville stopped New Athens 12-2, Waterloo won over Highland 14-0, and Mascoutah won over Civic Memorial 10-0.
