Kevin Korte

Kevin G. Korte, age 65, of Breese, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 15, 1961, in Highland, the son of Cyril “Pete” and Jane (nee Luitjohan) Korte.

On July 7, 1990, he married Kathleen “Kathie” (nee Huelskamp) Korte at St. Dominic Church in Breese, she survives in Breese. Kevin is also survived by his mother, Jane Korte; children, Jenny (Michael) Rivera, Joseph Feldman and Karen (Willis Knutt) Miller; grandchildren, Andrew Rivera, Nathan (Fiancée-Jillian Tonnies) Rivera, Zachary Rivera, Lucas Feldman, William Feldman, Katelynn Feldman, Lauren (Christopher) DeSimone, Trevor (Tegan) Feldman, Lilly Miller and Boston Miller; great grandchildren, Luka DeSimone, Ezra DeSimone and Bristol Feldman; siblings, Gregg (Celeste) Korte, Gloria (Kenneth) Toennies, Sandra Bretz, Janice (Cliff) Korte-Couch, Tammara (Luke) Schutzenhofer and Karen Boulanger; in-laws, Theresa (Chuck) Luitjohan, Geralyn (Mick) Albers, Doris (Tom) Goestenkors, Bernadette Henrichs, Gerard (Rose) Huelskamp, Denise (Bill) Trickey, Angela (Pete) Fields, Mary Jo (Billy) Luitjohan, Mark (Karen) Huelskamp and Matt (Christa) Huelskamp; and many nieces and nephews.

Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Cyril “Pete” Korte; brothers-in-law, Dr. Matthew Bretz, D.C. and Jon Boulanger; parents-in-law, Joseph “Dennis” and Mary “Lorraine” (nee Krebs) Huelskamp and niece, Brooke Robert.

Kevin spent his career as an Operating Engineer, retiring from Korte & Luitjohan Construction. He was a dedicated member of Operating Engineers Local 520. Deeply rooted in his faith and community, he belonged to St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869. Kevin was a former member of the Highland Jaycees, and he was known for his big heart, volunteering countless hours and energy to Camp Ondessonk and supporting the mission of Leaps of Love. Kevin loved hunting and found great joy in dirt track racing, frequently traveling to experience different races. One of his favorite places to unwind was the family cabin in Vienna. Above all, Kevin’s greatest joy came from his family. He cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, leaving them with endless memories of his warmth and dedication.

Funeral Service will be Monday, August 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Augustine Church with Fr. Callistus Osiaga, presiding in Breese.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. and Monday, August 3, 2026, from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made St. Augustine Church or Mater Dei Catholic High School and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
