Constance “Connie” Vivod Koch, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Shiloh, IL, with her family by her side.
Born on July 5, 1940, in Granite City, Illinois, Connie was blessed with a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community. The daughter of Frances and George Vivod, Connie was raised with strong family values and a deep sense of community. She attended Madison High School in Madison, Illinois, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and discovered her passion for learning. Her journey through life was marked by a career as a Payroll Supervisor for the city of Granite City, Illinois.
Connie was a dedicated and enthusiastic football fan, known for being the first to arrive on game day and cheering the loudest. Her love for the sport was only surpassed by her love for her family.
Her children, Karen Elizabeth Koch; Joseph George Koch (Sandy); Paula Frances Lupo (Todd); and honorary son, Armand Kachigian, were the center of her world. She took immense pride in their achievements and was their unwavering pillar of support. Family gatherings were incomplete without Connie, who was always eager to fill her plate with the delicious offerings of a shared meal. Her warmth and generosity were felt by all who knew her, and her home was a haven of laughter and love. She cherished her four grandchildren, Jack Joseph Lakenburges, Rachel Elizabeth Lakenburges, Abraham George Koch, Sean David Rivero, and celebrated their extraordinary accomplishments with pride and joy.
Connie enjoyed spending her time with her beloved dog, Oshie, indulging in a bit of gardening, and creating memories with those she held dear. Her gentle spirit and loving nature left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
Connie is predeceased by her beloved parents, Frances and George Vivod. She is survived by her children, her grandchildren, and her brother, Frank Vivod, along with countless, adored nieces and nephews, who will all carry her memory forward in their hearts and lives. The family kindly requests that donations be made to animal charities of your choice in her memory, continuing Connie’s legacy of generosity and compassion. Connie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL., with the memorial service to follow at 10:00 a.m.
