Alton Marquette Beats EAWR At Roxana Hoopsgiving Classic

ROXANA – On Wednesday night, Alton Marquette and the EAWR boys basketball team squared off in the Hoopsgiving Classic in Roxana. Marquette came out on top with a 58-37 win over the Oilers.

In the first quarter, it was a back-and-forth game with EAWR hitting four three-pointers at the end of the quarter it was tied up 17-17.

Marquette in the second quarter was able to get a lead and went into the locker room 29-25 over the Oilers.

In the third quarter, it was all Marquette. After the break, Marquette was able to jump out to a 47 to 32 lead going into the final quarter. In the final quarter, Marquette outscored the Oilers 17 to 7 to close out the game.

Marquette was led by Brody Bechtold with 13 points and Jaden Rochester with 12 points. EAWR was led by Malyk Spiller with 17 points and Tahj’ Juan Smith with 13 points.
