Grant S. White Jr., 26, of Granite City, was charged with one count each of residential burglary (a Class 2 felony), unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle (a Class 2 felony), and fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer (a Class A misdemeanor).

White allegedly entered a Granite City residence without legal authority and with the intent to commit a theft on Sept. 29, 2025. On the same day, he reportedly knowingly possessed a stolen SSR Motorsports pit bike, which he used in an attempt to elude a Collinsville Police officer who had given him a visual or audible signal to stop the vehicle.

The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to deny White’s pretrial release from custody, describing him as “a danger to the community and flight risk.”

According to the petition, the victim identified White as the subject who entered her attached garage and stole her son’s dirt bike from her Granite City residence. Video from the scene reportedly shows the bike being taken by a male subject who matches White’s description, including a hand tattoo which was identified by the victim.

“Approximately one hour after the burglary, officers in Collinsville observed the dirt bike in their venue and attempted a traffic stop, but defendant fled,” the petition states. “Officers observed defendant drop the bike and flee on foot, also dropping a cell phone as he fled. [A] search of the phone revealed images of defendant, as well a map instructions to get to the location of the burglary.”

White was ordered remanded to jail for his initial court appearance in the case presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
