CASEYVILLE – A man accused of fleeing police in two separate incidents in Caseyville, Ill., including one in which a utility terrain vehicle overturned during a pursuit, has been charged with multiple offenses, the Caseyville Police Department said.
Bobby J. Mahan, a white male born April 13, 1972, was formally charged Feb. 11, 2026, after cases were presented to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office, police said. The charges stem from incidents on Oct. 12, 2025, and Feb. 10, 2026, according to the Caseyville Police Department.
In the Oct. 12, 2025 incident, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that “subsequently fled at a high rate of speed,” police said. The suspect, identified as Mahan, eventually stopped the vehicle and fled on foot, then attempted to enter a UTV, described as a “side-by-side,” in an effort to continue his escape, police said. He was apprehended “without incident and taken into custody,” the police said.
Police said Mahan was transported to a local hospital for evaluation “due to potential medical concerns” before being processed on out-of-custody charges.
In the Feb. 10, 2026 incident, an officer observed “a white male wearing a brown ski mask operating a UTV (side by side),” police said. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the UTV fled and went off-road, Caseyville Police said.
During the pursuit, the UTV “overturned onto its side,” police said. The driver, identified as Mahan, attempted to flee on foot but was “quickly apprehended,” police said, adding that he was taken into custody “without further incident.”
As a result, the following subject was formally charged with the offenses listed below:
Bobby J. Mahan (W/M, DOB: 04/13/1972)
-Methamphetamine Possession (10/12/2025 incident)
-Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding (10/12/2025 incident)
