Staunton, Carlinville, CM, Triad and East St. Louis Capture Boys Regional Semifinal Wins

CARLINVILLE – Staunton emerged with a 48-35 win over Southwestern in the 2A Carlinville Regional on Wednesday night, Feb. 25, 2026, and Carlinville defeated Father McGivney Catholic in another matchup.

Staunton now plays for the regional championship against Carlinville on Friday night, Feb. 27, 2026.

The winner of the Staunton-Carlinville game will play in the Pleasant Plains Sectional at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Staunton improves to 28-3 overall with the win.

Lucas Dillon had 17 points for Staunton in the game; Luke Moore and Isiah Laux added 10 points each. Jeremiah Graham also tallied 6 points.

Carter Bacon had 10 points for the Piasa Birds, Connor Wood added 9 points, and Trenton Brackett totalled 8 points in the contest.

CARLINVILLE 45, FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 36

Carlinville topped Father McGivney Catholic 45-36 in the other regional semifinal game on Wednesday night at Carlinville.

Sawyer Smith led Carlinville with 12 points, Noah Convery had 10 points, and Tate Duckels and Triston Thompson had 9 points.

Carlinville is now 19-12 overall on the season.

Father McGivney was led in scoring by Carson Barone and Chase Jansen with 9 points apiece, and Owen Kolesa added 8 points.

McGivney concludes the year with a 19-14 overall mark, the most wins in school history for the boys program.

IHSA CLASS 3A

EAST ST. LOUIS, CIVIC MEMORIAL, TRIAD PUSH AHEAD TO TITLE GAMES

CM CAPTURES WIN, JERSEY LOSES DESPITE KRIBS’ 15-POINT EFFORT

Civic Memorial, now 15-16, moved to the Jersey championship with a 51-48 win over Mattoon on Wednesday. The Eagles meet Jacksonville on Friday night in Jersey. Jersey lost 68-39 in the other regional contest on Wednesday at Jersey.

Abe Kribs led the Panthers with 15 points, while both Andrew Koenig and Shane Lamer had eight points each.

The Crimsons are now 22-8. Jersey ends its season at 6-18 and the Green Wave winds up at 17-14.

EAST ST. LOUIS PLAYS FOR TITLE

East St. Louis will play in the Mascoutah Regional championship after an 84-32 win over Waterloo. The Flyers play Marion on Friday night.

Alex Johnson led the Flyers with 21 points, while Jamison White scored 16 points, and Terri’yon Webster added 12 points.

East Side is now 27-4, and will play against Marion, an 81-55 winner over the host Indians, in Friday’s final, starting at 7 p.m. The Wildcats are now 17-11. while the Bulldogs finish at 6-27, and Mascoutah ends up at 19-11.

TRIAD TOPS HIGHLAND

Triad defeated Highland 46-28 on Wednesday at Triad.

Cameron Coziar led the Bulldogs with nine points, while Kyler Koerkenmeier scored six points.

Triad is now 23-8, and faces Chatham Glenwood, who won over Taylorville in the second semifinal, 52-31, in the final Friday night at 7 p.m. The Titans are now 11-16, with Highland winding up at 10-20, and the Tornadoes finishing up at 14-17.
