
Robert H. “Bossy” Parks, 81, of DeSoto and formerly of Granite City, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2028, with his family by his side.
He was born October 4, 1944, in Granite City, the son of the late William F. Parks Sr. and Muriel B. Parks (Ramirez). He married the love of his life, Patricia A. Parks (Wilson), on July 10, 1976, in Granite City, and she survives.
Robert was an over-the-road truck driver who logged more than 40 years of miles before retiring. He was a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs, and he greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially loved caring for his hummingbirds and hosting family barbecues and gatherings. Above all, he cherished his family and will be remembered for the special moments shared with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert D. Parks of Belleville and Charles W. Dahmm Jr. (Mary) of Festus; a daughter, Denise R. Halley (Jim) of Colp; eight grandchildren, Jason, Josh, Jerrett, Kevin, Amy, Brittni, Emily, and James; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Parks of Kewanee; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell W. Parks and William Parks Jr., and five sisters, Norma Alexander, Doris Moore, Phyllis Robinson, Jackie Taylor, and Katherine Cook.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be held at Glenview Chapel Assembly of God Church, 3000 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon, with Reverend Scott Wilson officiating.
