Paul Edward Morris, age 64, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Born on October 7, 1961, in Granite City, he was the beloved son of the late Charles and Nina (Welshan) Morris.
Paul dedicated twenty-nine years of his life to Granite City Steel, where he was known for his strong work ethic and quiet dependability. Beyond his career, Paul found his greatest happiness in the simple joys of life. He was an avid outdoorsman who cherished time spent fishing and hunting, and he held a special place in his heart for the family cabin at Norfolk Lake in Arkansas, where many treasured memories were made. A loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan, Paul rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team.
Above all, Paul’s greatest joy was his family. He valued time spent together, whether sharing stories, laughter, or simply enjoying each other’s company. His kindness, steady presence, and genuine love for those around him will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving siblings: Charles (Kimberly) Morris of Granite City, Illinois; Pamela (Bruce) Hendrickson of Chester, Illinois; Ernest (Gretchen) Morris of Granite City, Illinois; Michael (Denise) Morris of Granite City, Illinois; Lisa (Perry) Purdue of Granite City, Illinois; and Patricia (Ernesto) Cuevas of Grafton, Illinois. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A memorial visitation to celebrate Paul’s life will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel in Granite City, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Contributions will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
