CENTRALIA – Centralia Police responded to a reported shooting on Sunday evening, April 19, 2026, in the 900 block of Kell Street, and a 19-year-old male later died at an area hospital, according to Illinois State Police.
The shooting occurred about 5:01 p.m. on April 19, 2026, in Centralia, Illinois, Illinois State Police Public Information spokesperson Trooper Genelle Jones said.
“The Centralia Police Department requested Illinois State Police Zone 8 investigations to conduct the shooting investigation,” she added.
The 19-year-old male was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the Marion County coroner, police said. Three additional subjects were treated and released.
“At this time, all information indicates that this was a targeted incident with no reason to believe the public is at risk,” Trooper Jones said.
The investigation is ongoing, Jones said.
