Logan Kowalski

With profound sadness, yet unwavering faith, we announce that Logan Frank “Log” Kowalski, 18, of Troy, Illinois, was welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on April 20, 2026, at 9:51 p.m. at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and cherished 4N nurses.

Logan was born on August 6, 2007, in Maryville, Illinois, the son of Frank Paul and Jennifer Renee (Butcher) Kowalski. He was a bright light to all who knew him—full of joy, laughter, and a smile that could light up any room.

For over six and a half years—2,299 days—Logan bravely battled cancer with incredible courage, dignity, and unwavering faith. He never complained or asked “why me,” but instead faced each day with hope. While cancer took his earthly body, it never touched his spirit. Logan has won his battle and is now healed and cancer-free in Heaven.

He was a proud student of Triad High School, where he achieved his goal of walking across the stage to receive his diploma, graduating in 2025 with honors while courageously fighting cancer.

Logan loved life deeply. He was known for his corny dad jokes, funny catchphrases, and playful personality that brought laughter to everyone around him. He enjoyed music, dance parties to and from the hospital, video games, fishing, shooting pool, and the simple joy of watching reels and his favorite Adam Sandler movies that made him laugh. He also treasured special memories traveling, including time in New York City and Hawaii.

Logan shared an unbreakable bond with his mother, Jennifer, and father, Frank. As a brother—“Bruddy” to Alyssa—he was a protector, best friend, and constant source of love and humor. He loved his loyal dogs, Alex and Guylee, who were always by his side.

Logan will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his strength, and the deep love he had for others. Though his life was far too short, his impact will live on forever.

In addition to his loving parents, Jennifer and Frank, and his favorite person in the world, his sister Alyssa, he is survived by his beloved grandparents, Harry and Eyvonne Butcher of Wilmington, Illinois; aunts and uncles: John and Mary Kowalski of Newton, Alabama; Jan Kowalski of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Kathy Jordan of St. Charles, Illinois; Jill and Scott Fourreau of Plainfield, Illinois; and Bill and Kelly Butcher of Osakis, Minnesota; cousins: Jennifer, Megan (Adam), Matthew (Cheyenne), Dillon, Brandon, and Amanda (Lance); many devoted Cardinal Glennon nurses, doctors, therapists, and teachers whom he adored; wonderful friends; and his entire Team Logan support community.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, “Grampi” Frank Kowalski Sr.

In his honor, hold your loved ones close, choose joy, laugh, don’t sweat the small stuff, and share kindness—just as Logan did every day.
