Christa was born September 14, 1989, in St. Louis, Missouri. She married the love of her life, Russell Scott Hardester, on December 23, 2011, at City of the Lord Church in Granite City.
Christa was a once-in-a-generation wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She lived her life rooted in faith, family, and joy. Her kind, generous, and endearing nature touched everyone she met, and her beautiful smile could light up any room—it will never be forgotten.
Her motherly love shone brightly in the life of her cherished son, Isaiah, whom she lovingly homeschooled, instilling values that will guide him throughout his life. Christa lived fully, always pursuing dreams, learning new things, and seeking out life’s next adventure.
She was a gifted artist who enjoyed painting, drawing, and photography, often sharing her talents to bring joy to others. She also had a passion for sourdough baking, as well as baking and decorating cakes. Christa was a talented musician who loved playing the guitar and singing.
Christa was instrumental in founding “God’s Girls,” a faith-based women’s group dedicated to encouraging and empowering women in their daily lives. She was a devoted member of Calvary Life Church and had also spent many years attending Harvest Community Church.
In addition to her beloved husband of nearly 15 years, she is survived by her cherished son, Isaiah Scott Hardester; her mother, Velier (Helferstay) Anderson of Granite City; her father, Richard Cox of Alabama; her sister, Marie Cox of Alabama; her brother, Richard Cox of Alabama; her father-in-law, George Hardester of Granite City; her brother-in-law, Ryan Hardester of Alton; along with extended family and many dear friends.
In addition to her four beloved children, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Eva Burks, Vernon Cox and Christine Smith; her mother-in-law, Terry Rose; and her loyal service companion of 18 years, her husky, Koda.
